(“Herc Rentals”) and its affiliated companies, including Matthews Equipment Limited o/a Herc Rentals (“Company”, “we”, or “us”) use cookies, web beacons, pixels, pixel tags, and other automated data collection tools and tracking technologies (collectively, “cookies”). For convenience, we refer to these technologies collectively as “cookies” in this Cookie Policy. We may also deploy cookies and similar tracking technologies through tag management tools (such as Google Tag Manager) or other third-party platforms. We use these cookies to do such things as recognize your internet browser or device, learn more about your interests, and provide you with essential features and services when accessing or using www.HercRentals.com or any other of our websites, each a “Site.” Some cookies and similar technologies may be deployed automatically when you visit our Site, and you may be able to manage certain preferences through our Cookie Preferences tool, as described below.

1. What are Cookies?

A “cookie” is a small file that is placed on your computer, mobile device, or any other device by a website, containing the details of your browsing history on that website, among its many uses.  We automatically derive and collect certain data based on your interactions with us on the Site using cookies. Our collection of this information allows us to improve your user experience in various ways, such as to understand how users interact with the Site, to “remember” whether or not you are signed in, and to support site functionality and technical operations.

2. What Types of Cookies May be Used?

Cookies can be first-party cookies or third-party cookies. Whether a cookie is 'first' or 'third' party refers to the domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are those set by a website that is being visited by the user at the time (e.g., cookies placed by www.HercRentals.com). Third-party cookies, discussed further below, are cookies that are set by a domain or entity other than that of the website being visited by the user.

Cookies can be “Persistent” or “Session” cookies. Persistent cookies remain on your personal computer or mobile device when you go offline, while Session cookies are deleted as soon as you close your web browser. Cookies also have different functions. The cookies that may be used on our Site fall into the categories described below. 2.1. Strictly Necessary/Essential cookies

Type: Session cookies

Purpose:  These cookies (also called “required” cookies) are essential in order to enable you to navigate the Site and use certain features (e.g., logging in, filling out forms, etc.). They help to authenticate users and prevent fraudulent use of user accounts. Without these cookies, the services you have asked for, such as shopping carts or producing your bill at checkout, cannot be provided. We also wouldn’t be able to guarantee how the Site or the security on the Site will perform during your visit.

2.2. Functional cookies

Type: Persistent cookies

Purpose: These cookies allow us to remember choices you make when you use the Site, such as remembering your login details, or showing embedded videos and content. The purpose of these cookies is to support site functionality and to avoid you having to re-enter your preferences every time you use the Site.  Some of these cookies may be set by third party providers whose services we have added to our pages. If you do not accept these cookies then some of these services may not function properly.

2.3. Performance and Analytics cookies

Type: Persistent cookies

Purpose: Performance cookies collect information about how you use our Site, e.g., which pages you visit, how much time you spend, and if you experience any errors. This information may be collected using identifiers such as cookie IDs or similar online identifiers and is used to help us understand and improve Site performance and user experience. Type: Persistent cookies

Purpose: We partner with third parties to either display advertising on our Site or to manage our advertising on other sites. They use cookies to record your visit to our Site, your opening and review of our emails, the pages you have visited, the links you have clicked, and gather information about your browsing habits and remember that you have visited a Site. 2.5. Social Media Cookies

Purpose: These cookies are set by a range of social media services that we have added to the Sites to enable you to share our content with your friends and networks. They are capable of tracking your browser across other websites and building a profile of your interests. This may impact the content and messages you see on other websites you visit. If you do not allow these Cookies, you may not be able to use or see these sharing tools.

4. Disabling/Enabling Cookies

A. Through your browser settings, you can accept or decline cookies or set your browser to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the websites you visit. You should be aware that you may not be able to use all the interactive features on our Site if you set your browser to disable cookies entirely. Further, if you use different computers in different locations you will need to ensure that each browser is adjusted to suit your preferences. You can also delete any cookies that have been installed in the cookie folder of your browser.

B. You may be able to renew or change certain cookie preferences using our Cookie Preferences button located in our site footer. Please note that our Cookie Preferences tool allows you to manage certain non-essential cookies; however, some technologies may continue to operate where necessary to support core site functionality, communications, or service delivery.

5. Do Not Track Signals

We do not respond to the “Do Not Track” signal that may be activated on your browser. There is no uniform or consistent standard or definition for responding to, processing, or communicating Do Not Track signals.  We do not currently respond to or process Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals.
